Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to consider with different models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could operate in less than 6 feet areas, while some will use particular guidance systems like rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel within the aisles. Several various models of VNA trucks include Swing Masts, Order Selectors and Turret Trucks. These are popular models in compact retail areas and in some warehouse and storage situations.
Narrow Aisle trucks could operate in aisles from 8 feet to 10 feet wide. Generally these are stand-up models like for instance Reach Trucks. They are often utilized within warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units provide padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is large and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more effective while limiting fatigue.
